Hierdie is jou geleentheid om die storie wat in jou hart brand te vertel en ten toon te stel by die Silwerskermfees in samewerking met kykNET.

Die SILWERKSERMFEES is ‘n professioneel georganiseerde aanbieding van films in een of meer bioskope, teaters en/of buitelugskerms in en om Kaapstad. Die SILWERSKERMFEES vertoon films in enige genre maar fokus op AFRIKAANSE produksies, alhoewel werke in ander Suid-Afrikaanse tale asook internasionale vrystellings op die fees vertoon kan word.

Kortfilms kan tussen 3 en 30 minute in lengte wees en enige film-genre sal oorweeg word. Alle dialoog moet in Afrikaans wees.

Hoe werk dit?

Nuwe Stem Kortfilms:

Konsepte vir jou nuwe stem kortfilms moet tussen 250 en 300 woorde wees, en die lengte van die film insluit (tussen 3 en 30 minute). Die keuringsproses het ‘n paar fases en die besluit oor watter konsepte uiteindelik vervaardig word, lê uitsluitlik by kykNET. Die top 60 konsepte sal gekies word teen 26 Maart 2020, waarna ‘n verdere voorstelle-proses sal volg. Na die verdere voorstelle-proses sal suksesvolle inskrywings die geleentheid gegee word om die teks uit te brei en te lewer, tesame met kortfilm begroting en regiseur vereistes. Indien suksesvol, sal die volgende fase finansiering ontvang word, asook die nodige leiding en mentorskap van Silwerskermfees om die konsep te vervaardig in ‘n film. In die vervaardigingsfase sal die deelnemer die opdrag van M-Net nakom in terme van die standaard opdragewende kontrak van M-Net. Die voltooide kortfilm moet afgelewer word teen 24 Julie 2020.

BEPALINGS EN VOORWAARDES:

Jou deelname aan die uitnodiging om in te skryf, geld as ’n bindende aanvaarding van die reëls en regulasies soos hieronder vervat: 


1. Voorleggings moet kykNET op of voor 11 Maart 2019 bereik. 
2. Voorleggings wat nie aan die voorleggingsvereistes voldoen nie, sal nie aanvaar word nie. Enige inskrywings wat na die sperdatum ontvang word sal nie aanvaar word nie, ongeag sodanige rede daarvoor.

3. Aansoekers moet burgers van die Republiek van Suid-Afrika wees ten tye van die indiening van hul inskrywings.

4. Aansoekers jonger as 18 jaar oud moet skriftelike toestemming ontvang van hul ouers of voogde voor lewering van hul inskrywings.

5. Aansoekers jonger as 18 jaar oud moet die aanlyn aansoekvorm invul met die nodige bystand van hul ouers of voogde. Aansoekers moet ook die persoon wees waarmee die organiseerders in verbinding sal tree.
6. Alle kommunikasie moet duidelik gemerk word met die titel van die prent as verwysing.

7. M-Net aanvaar geen verantwoordelikheid aangaande onkostes wat mag onstaan om bestaande werke in te skryf nie.

8. Dit is die verantwoordelikheid van elke deelnemer om te verseker dat enige inligting wat aan M-Net voorsien word volledig en korrek is. M-Net en sy geaffilieerde maatskappye is nie verantwoordelik vir enige foute en/of weglatings van informasie wat ontvang is in reaksie tot inskrywings nie.

9. M-Net en sy geaffilieerde maatskappye sal nie verantwoordelik gehou word vir enige voorleggings wat nie deur M-Net ontvang is nie, ongeag of sodanige voorleggings binne die aanverwante tydstip ontvang is of nie, en ongeag die rede daarvoor. M-Net en sy geaffilieerde maatskappye sal nie verantwoordelik gehou word vir enige probleme of tegniese foutwerking van enige telefoonnetwerke of -lyne, rekenaaraanlynstelsels, rekenaarbedieners of -verskaffers, rekenaarhardeware- of sagtewareprobleme, verkeerskongestie (hetsy fisiek of op die internet, telefoonlyne, of enige ander diensverskaffers, webwerf of enige ander toestel of medium), of enige kombinasie daarvan, of enige ander tegniese en/of aanverwante probleme wat nie hierin vervat word nie. 

10. M-Net en sy geaffilieerde maatskappye is nie verantwoordelik vir enige skade ten opsigte van enige deelnemer of ander persoon se rekenaar, selfoon of enige ander toestel wat deur die aangewese deelnemer gebruik word om in te skryf of om enige materiaal te bekom wat verband hou met die gegewe aansoek nie.

11. Enige persoon wat in die voorafgaande 2 jaar deurgedring het na die produksierondte, kan nie weer in dieselfde kapasiteit deelneem aan ’n voorgelegde projek nie. As voorbeeld, ‘n draaiboekskrywer in die 2018 of 2019 projek kwalifiseer nie weer as ‘n draaiboekskrywer nie.

12. Desnieteenstaande die voormelde kan enige persone wat in vorige jare deurgedring het na die produksierondte in ‘n ander kapasiteit wel deelneem aan ’n voorgelegde projek in ‘n ander rol. As voorbeeld, ‘n draaiboekskrywer in die vorige jaar mag deelneemn as lid van die verfilmingspan.

13. M-Net sal uitsluitlik ’n keurkomitee aanstel om die ingediende voorstelle te beoordeel en om in die komitee se uitsluitlike diskresie, die beste kortfilmvoorleggings vir opdraggewing deur M-Net te kies. Die besluit wat deur die komitee maak met betrekking tot die verkose voorleggings sal finaal wees. Geen verdere korrespondensie sal in dié verband gevoer word nie. Die besluit oor die maksimum hoeveelheid van die kortprentkonsepte wat in opdrag vervaardig word, berus uitsluitlik by M-Net.

14. Die geslaagde aansoeke van die Nuwe Stem kortfilmkonsepte sal op 11 Mei 2020 op www.kyknet.co.za aangekondig word en sodanige persone sal via e-pos in kennis gestel word. Geslaagde konsepte moet met Afrikaanse dialoog vervaardig word.

15. Met bevestiging dat ‘n Nuwe Stem kortfilmvoorstel gekies is, sal daar van die deelnemer verwag word om M-Net se standaard-opdraggewende kontrak vir sodanige kortprent te aanvaar en onderteken. In ’n geval waar die partye nie ooreenkom kan kom op die terme van sodanige ooreenkoms nie, sal die deelnemer nie maar kwalifiseer vir die opdraggewende kontrak nie. Om enige twyfel uit die weg te ruim, die kopiereg en alle ander intellektuele eiendomsreg in die kortprente wat vervaardig is eksklusief by M-Net sal berus. 

16. Geen kontantborge vir ’n Nuwe Stem Silwerskerm Kortfilm sal aanvaar word nie. Slegs bevondsing verskaf deur M-Net kan vir die vervaardiging van films gebruik word.

17. Enige ruilhandel transaksies vir die Silwerskerm Film Fees moet deur M-Net goedgekeur word, op skrif, voor 8 Mei 2020.

18. Die vertoning van die kortfilms waarvoor daar opdrag gegee is, sal geskeduleer word na goeddunke van M-Net gedurende die Silwerskermfees vanaf 24 – 29 Augustus 2020, of enige ander tydperk wanneer die Silwerskermfees gehou word.

19. M-Net en sy geaffilieerde maatskappye is nie verantwoordelik vir, en verwerp alle aanspreeklikheid vir, enige verlies, aanspreeklikheid, besering, uitgawe of skade (hetsy regstreeks, onregstreeks, toevallig, bestraffend of voortspruitend) van enige aard, hetsy weens nalatigheid of enige ander oorsaak, wat jy, of jou vennoot (waar van toepassing) mag ly uit jou aansoek in reaksie op die uitnodiging tot deelname, of weens enige optrede deur ons of ons geaffilieerde maatskappye in ooreenstemming met die reëls en regulasies.

20. M-Net behou hom die reg voor om dié uitnodiging tot deelname/of enige aspek daarvan aan te pas, uit te stel, te staak of te kanselleer vir welke rede M-Net dit ook al nodig mag ag. Ingevolge sodanige aanpassing, uitstelling, staking of kansellasie, stem jy daartoe in om afstand te doen van enige regte, belange en verwagtinge wat jy mag hê ten opsigte van die uitnodiging tot deelname en jy erken dat jy geen regres het teen M-Net, sy geaffilieerde maatskappye en derde party-verskaffers nie.

21. Indien enige deelnemer in gebreke bly om aan enige van die reëls of regulasies te voldoen, behoudens enige ander regsmiddel wat M-Net mag hê, sal:

a. die deelnemer  outomaties gediskwalifiseer word;

b. Die deelnemer M-Net vergoed vir enige verlies of skade wat regstreeks of onregstreeks deur M-Net gely word weens die deelnemer (of, indien van toepassing, sy/haar vennoot) se verontagsaming van die ooreenkoms, insluitend al ons regskoste (insluitend prokureurs- en eie-kliëntkoste) wat M-Net op die hals mag haal.

22. Die deelnemer indemnifiseer en hou M-Net en sy geaffilieerde maatskappye skadeloos teen enige eis, skade of verantwoordelikheid soos gelei deur enige ander persoon voortslepend deur die deelnemer se aksies.

23. Vir doeleindes hiervan beteken “geaffilieerde maatskappye” enige ander entiteit in beheer, onder beheer van of onder algemene beheer in verband met M-Net. "Beheer" (insluitend definisies, "Beherend" "Beherend deur" en "onder algemene beheer deur") beteken besit, direk of indirek, oor die vermoë om voor te skryf of te beïnvloed ten opsigte van bestuur en beleid van 'n entiteit, hetsy deur eienaarskap van stemreg sekuriteite,  deur kontrak, of andersins.

24. Dié reëls en regulasies sal vertolk, geïnterpreteer en afgedwing word kragtens die wette van kontrak- en dispuutresolusie in die Republiek van Suid-Afrika.

Submissions for Short Films: New Voices

This is an opportunity to share and tell your story that has been burning passionately inside at the Silwerskerm festival, in conjunction with kykNET.

Silwerskerm Festival is a professional presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues/ or outdoor screens in and around Cape Town. The Silwerskerm Festival showcase films in any genre but focus is in native Afrikaans and other South African languages. It includes mainly South African films but can also include international releases

The time limits for New Voice short films range from a minimum of 3 minutes, to a maximum of 30 minutes, while any film genre will be considered. All dialogue must be in Afrikaans.

How does it work?

New Voice Short Films:

Concepts for your new voice short film must be limited between 250 to 300 words, and the running time (3 to 30 minutes). The selection process consists of various phases, and the final decision of which concepts are accepted vests exclusively with kykNET. The top 60 concepts will be chosen by 26 March 2020, where after a pitching process will commence. After the pitching process, successful participants will be offered the opportunity to develop a script and deliver this, alongside a short film budget and director’s treatment. If successful, the next phase will receive funding, with the necessary guidance and mentorship from Silwerskerm Film Festival, to produce the concept to a film. The production phase will entail the participant being commissioned by M-Net on M-Net’s standard terms of commissioning to produce the film.  The final completed short film is to be delivered by 24 July 2020.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Your participation to the invitation to enter is deemed as your binding acceptance to the rules and regulations as contained hereunder.

  1. Entries must reach kykNET on or before 11 March 2020.
  2. Entries that do not comply with the submission requirements, will not be accepted or considered. Any applications that kykNET after the closing date will not be considered, irrespective of the reason for such delay.
  3. Applicants must be citizens of the Republic of South African as at the time of their submissions.
  4. Applicants younger than 18 years of age must obtain written consent from their parents or guardians prior to their submission entry.
  5. Applicants below the age of 18 must only complete the online application form with the necessary assistance from a legal guardian to submit such proposal. Applicants must be the persons to be contacted by the organisers regarding their submissions.
  6. All communications submitted must be clearly identified with the title of the film as reference.
  7. No applications/entries or material delivered will be at M-Net’s expense.
  8. Each participant must to ensure that all information supplied to M-Net is correct, complete and punctual. M-Net and its affiliated companies are not responsible for any errors and/or omissions in any information received in reaction to the invitation to your participation.
  9. M-Net and its affiliated companies are not responsible for any submissions/ applications which had not been received by M-Net, be it within the specified time period or not, and irrespective of the reason for such non-receipt. M-Net and its affiliated companies will not be responsible for any problems or technical errors of any telephone networks or –lines, online computer systems, computer service providers or suppliers, computer hardware or software problems, traffic congestion (be it physical or on the internet, telephone lines, or any other service providers, website or any other device or medium), or any combination thereof, or any other technical or other problems not listed herein.
  10. M-Net and its affiliated companies are not responsible for any loss or damage to your or any other person’s computer, cellular phone or other device used by you to enter and or submit or to obtain any material related to your application.
  11. Anyone who, in any one or both of the festivals held in the immediately preceding two years, participated in a project that proceeded to production cannot participate in the same capacity this year. For example, a scriptwriter in the 2018 or 2019 project is not eligible to be a scriptwriter.
  12. Nothing contained in the above paragraph, precludes a participant in any of the previous festivals from participating in a capacity different to the capacity in which s/he had participated. For example, someone who participated as a scriptwriter in the previous years, can participate as a member of the filming crew.
  13. M-Net shall exclusively appoint a selection committee to adjudicate the submitted proposals, and the selection committee shall choose the best short film submissions for commissioning by M-Net. The decision by the selection committee regarding any selected submissions will be final. No further correspondence shall be exchanged in this regard. The decision on a maximum number of short film concepts to be selected for commissioning will exclusively vest with M-Net.
  14. The successful applications of new voice short film concepts will be announced on 11 May 2020 at www.kyknet.co.za, and various individuals will be notified by way of e-mail. Successful concepts must be produced with Afrikaans dialogue.
  15. Upon confirmation that a new voice short film is selected into the production phase, a participant will be expected to accept and sign the standard M-Net commissioning contract for your short film. In the event of the parties failing to reach consensus on the terms of such agreement, a participant will no longer be eligible for M-Net’s commissioning. In order to eliminate any confusion, copyright and all other intellectual ownership rights in films to be produced, will exclusively vest with M-Net.
  16. No cash sponsorships for Silwerskerm Short films will be accepted. Only the cash provided by M-Net as the budget must be used in the production of the films.
  17. Any barters for the Silwerskerm Film Festival short films must be approved by M-Net, in writing, before 8 May 2020.
  18. The screening of short films as commissioned, will be scheduled at the discretion of M-Net during the Silwerskerm Film Festival from 24 to 30 August 2020, or such other period during which the Silwerskerm Film Festival will be held.
  19. M-Net and its affiliated companies are not responsible for, and is indemnified from all liability, losses, injury, expense or damage of any nature, caused through negligence or any other reason, suffered by participants (or their partner where applicable) forth flowing from a participant’s submission under these terms and conditions, or due to any act or omission by M-Net or our affiliated companies in relation to these terms and conditions.
  20. M-Net reserves the right to allow participation in the festival, or amendment of any other aspect thereof, to postpone, suspend or cancel such participation for whichever reason M-Net may deem fit. In terms of such amendment, postponement, suspension or cancellation, participants waive any rights, interests or expectations that they might have in relation to the invitation to participate and acknowledge that they will have no right of recourse against M-Net, its affiliated companies or third-party service providers.
  21. In the event of any non-compliance with these terms and conditions by a participant, M-Net will, in addition to any legal recourse available:

 

  1. automatically disqualify the participant;

 

  1. be entitled to claim any loss or damage it has suffered caused by the participant’s (or if applicable his/her partner’s) non-adherence to this agreement, including all our legal fees (inclusive of attorney- client scale), which M-Net may incur in any steps instituted against the participant (or his/her partner).

 

  1. The participant hereby indemnifies and holds M-Net and affiliated companies harmless against any liability, claims or damage suffered by any person as a result of the participant’s conduct.
  2. For purposes hereof “affiliated companies” means any other entity Controlling, Controlled by or under common Control with the M-Net. "Control" (including the terms "Controlling", "Controlled by" and "under common Control with") means the possession, direct or indirect, of the power to direct or cause the direction of the management and policies of an entity, whether through the ownership of voting securities, by contract or otherwise
  3. These terms and conditions will be interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
